The Factory Youth Zone (FYZ) set 100 businesses in Manchester a challenge to raise a minimum of £1,000 each. I decided to do something a little bit different from a lot of the companies involved and I will be hosting an art auction on October 3rd.

About The Factory Youth Zone

The FYZ gives kids a place to go after school and during school holidays and they offer a whole host of fantastic activities for all ages; from learning how to do spa treatments and film making to employability and enterprise workshops and a range of sports, just to name a few, all who attend the centre will find something they want to get involved with. Another important aspect of the FYZ is their mentoring programme. This gives those with any issues someone to confide in whether they are having problems at home, school or in their confidence. The centre is open to any young person aged between 8 and 21 and also caters for those with a mental or physical disability.

One of the areas of the FYZ that I really loved was their art department and so this fuelled the idea of holding an art auction.

What Art is Being Auctioned?

Artists and photographers from in and around Manchester (and a few further afield such as New York based artist, Jon Burgerman) have donated pieces to be auctioned off and all proceeds will go directly to FYZ.

The Liquor Store has kindly donated drinks for the evening and is creating a bespoke cocktail for the event and a Cheshire based caterer is providing free canapés and nibbles. An experienced auctioneer is donating his time and will be conducting the auction and this will all be held in Castle Galleries in Manchester city centre who have very generously given me their space for free. All art that they sell will be removed from the walls to make way for the donated pieces.

I am certain that the event will be a fun filled evening with good food, drinks and people, all for a great cause. Tickets cost £10 per person and all proceeds go directly to the FYZ. There are still some available to purchase and you can do so by clicking the button below:
