WhatTyre

WhatTyre is a tyre comparison site designed to help people find the best tyres for their car. They came to FireCask for comparison website development, due to our years of experience developing and designing websites.

The development process involved using WordPress to create a front-end website and Laravel for a back-end website. This had to be able to hold over 10k different tyre products and 50k different product variations.

Brief

FireCask was given the brief to create a tyre comparison website using WordPress that contained data from multiple sources (APIs/CSVs etc) with the additional requirement that the data should be accessible to selected partners as a REST API.

This resulted in two separate websites being created: a front-end website using WordPress (WhatTyre) and a back-end website using Laravel (TyrePedia).

WhatTyre is now a minimum viable product (MVP) website, built custom with WordPress, that uses the large scalable TyrePedia API engine that we built.

Summary

FireCask built a custom WordPress price comparison website for WhatTyre. This process involved installing a custom Laravel CMS with a REST API and a WordPress plugin for API imports. We also used import tools for various data sources.

The front-end website required complex search tools, which allowed us to include as many different tyre products and product types as possible. This was a main goal of the comparison site, as WhatTyre needed a wide range of products on their site so that they could accurately suggest the best tyres for their customers.

Results

We created a price comparison site that was highly secure and optimised through WordPress. It was able to store information about 10k different tyre products and over 50k product variations. This allowed customers to get a full scope of available tyres and made WhatTyre one of the leading tyre comparison sites in the UK.
